how wide is the opening for the bulb for the 8"?
Without climbing on a ladder to check, (my electrician did the initial install) I really can't say. However, the little triangular glass sections are very small. It looks like a quarter if not half of the unit opens for bulb change. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.
